WELCOME TO MY NEW SITE

My name is Mark David Barrera from Phoenix, and I am a Cisco Certified Network Engineer who started in networking back in 2004 (LinkedIn with photo).

I have also earned an Electrical Engineering degree from the Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University.

SPEEDY NETWORKS

I have worked with hundreds of engineers over the past 20 plus years, and befriended more than a few. I am now following their advice and have started my own network business, Speedy Networks. My website is hosted on my business web domain at speedynets.com.

Please take a look at my Speedy Networks website and click the email link in the footer to make suggestions or correct errors. Thank you in advance.

CCNA AND CCNP COURSES

I attended two CCNA and three CCNP courses for $15,200. Four were with renowned instructor Jeremy Cioara. Click the course links in the left menu for details.

Interesting college course comparison. Colleges meet 2 hours per week for 16 weeks for a total of 32 hours. Cisco classes meet 8 hours for 5 days for a total of 40 hours.

  • CCNA - 2676 pages - 10 days
  • CCNP - 3814 pages - 15 days
  • Total of 6490 pages - 25 days

VETERAN ASSISTANCE

I am a US Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post 2 in Tempe, Arizona. I meet veterans from time to time that express an interest in using their veteran educational benefits to become Network Engineers.

If you are a veteran who would like to speak with someone who is a Network Engineer (and an Electrical Engineer) about engineering careers, please leave me a message at (602) 788-1338. Thank You for Serving !

Lead Engineer, manager, and technical resource for the Nexus infrastructure for the Phoenix, Minneapolis, and Greensboro AMEX data center server environments.

  • Configured Catalyst / F5 / Appliances - 50 devices
  • HP design engineers - 20 original network engineers
  • HP design engineers average - 4 months to exit
  • My HP engineer contract - 18 months (AMEX record)
  • My days per week average - 7 days per week
  • 800 overtime hours - equivalent to 20 normal weeks

LIMELIGHT NETWORKS

Content Delivery Contract Completed

Completed my contract. Worked seven days a week for 21 months to document and verify the configuration and operation of the Limelight Networks global Content Delivery Network (CDN).

I am very grateful for having had the opportunity to work on the production and development global infrastructure.

It has been quite an adventure as I have now seen far past routers and switches. Global content delivery is quite involved, and the technologies are very complex.
